the Heliades Daughters of the Sun

The Heliades were Helios' three daughters and the sisters of Pheathon. Their names were Aegiale, Aegle, and Atheria. Some believe that there were two more daughters, but others believe they are the daughters of  Neaeria. The Heliades were most known in greek mythology as being "children of the sun."

The Heliades brother Pheathon died after driving his father's sun chariot across the sky.  The Heliades mourned so much for their brother that Zues gave pitty and turned them into poplar trees and their tears into golden amber.   Many others believe that the Heliades were turned into poplar trees because they yoked the chariot for their brother without their father Helios' permission.
